orange tree

Recommended Posts

My little one saved a seed last year from an orange tree and planted it in the ground.  To my amazement, it came up.  This spring, I dug around it and transplanted it into a barrel.  It did settle in and has grown to about a foot high.  It just seems to be getting taller and not really getting a good stem to it.  Is this normal?  How long until it starts to thicken up?  Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

thanks rajun!   i did stick a piece of think bamboo stake in there and tied it off gently about half way up.  it was getting so tall it was leaning over.  hopefully if it feels stable then it will thicken up a bit.

i am sad to report the orange tree is dead.  i tried cutting it back to see if it would re-green during the recent bout of warm weather a few weeks ago, but alas...it did not.

i am glad to have the barrel free tho  🙂
